The maturation of the nuclear power industry, accompanied by a redirection in emphasis from research and development to the nuclear power systems, has induced a corresponding change in the growing demand for well-trained nuclear engineers. Of central importance in such programs are those introductory courses in nuclear reactor analysis that first introduce the nuclear engineering student to the basis scientific principles of nuclear fission chain reactions that lay a foundation for the subsequent applications of these principles to the nuclear design and analysis of reactor cores. These constitute the main goal of this course.
